Hi, I’m Stephanie. I am….
–Catholic. I attended a Catholic college, Franciscan University of Steubenville and it was there that I grew deeply in my faith. Below is my tattoo that reads “cruce, dum spiro, fido,” which is Latin for “While I breathe, I trust the cross.” And my other tattoo, 1 Corinthians 13:1-3: “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.”
-A runner. I have run two full marathons, four half marathons, a 10k, a 5-miler, and a few 5ks.
-An obstacle racer, specifically, Spartan obstacle races. I have completed 5 Spartan races (sprint, super, and beast). I also completed a Tough Mudder.
-A beach bum. I can spend a 9+ hour day at the beach, no problem. I love everything about the beach and the ocean.
-A teacher. I teach high school English and I absolutely love it. Teaching is such a rewarding profession and I am so thankful that I have a job that I truly love going to each day.
-A volunteer. I love helping those who are less fortunate. I have volunteered in Ecuador, Haiti, Rwanda, and Nicaragua. In the picture below, I am standing with the teachers I provided professional development to during my 2-week trip to Haiti with Project Teach in July 2013.
In the next picture, I’m hiking through the Ecuadorian jungles while on a mission trip through my college in March 2009.
Below, I’m with my team at the finished well we drilled in Nicaragua.
–Eminem fan. I’ve liked his music ever since I heard the song “The Real Slim Shady” on the radio back in 2000, when I was only 11 years old. I finally got to see him in concert for the first time in August 2014 at The Monster Tour with Rihanna at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey. Below is a picture I took at the concert (in front row thanks to lining up at 10am for an 8pm concert!)
–A Lyme disease fighter. I acquired Lyme disease while on a pilgrimage with my church youth group in August 2007 and have had it ever since. Although it goes away for years at a time, I face relapses every now and then, so I’m always fighting to maintain my immune system so that I am well enough to continue with my workouts and to experience as few Lyme symptoms as possible.
-A Christian rapper. Although I don’t record anymore, I recorded 6 songs while in college at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio. My rap name is ResQ.
This is a video from one of my performances:
–Brazilian. I finally met the Brazilian side of my family for the first time in December 2012.
-A dog lover. Although I had to put my beloved dog, Butterscotch, to sleep on July 12, 2014, I will always love and remember him.
-An artist. Although I don’t always have the time to work on arts and crafts as much as I’d like to, I love oil painting and drawing. Below is one of my favorite paintings I made during high school.
-A fun-loving, silly optimist who never takes myself too seriously.
So that’s me, in a nutshell.
